VSP TO INSTAL FOURTH COKE OVEN BATTERY
Visakhapatnam Steel
Plant (VSP) an integrated steel plant of the Ministry of Steel
has decided to commission Coke Over Battery No. 4 in the plant
to keep the plant running throughout the year without any stoppage
for the repairment of the batteries. Ms. MECON has been appointed
for preparation of project report for the installation of the
battery. The estimated cost of the project comes to about Rs.
366 crore.
A token provision
of Rs. 5 crore was considered in the revised estimate for 2001-02
and Rs. 79 crore for 2002-03 basing on present status of the project.
Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd. (RINL) may require Government of India
guarantee support for market borrowing for funding capital expenditure
on fourth Coke Oven Battery to the extent of Rs. 350 crore. It
proposes to meet the funds requirement for 10 per cent of the
project cost of the Coke Oven Battery No. 4 from internal accruals.
