STEPS TO IMPROVE PERFOMANCE OF VSP


VIZAG Steel Plant (VSP) of the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd. has improved its performance during the last two years which has reduced the net loss substantially. It has made a cash profit of Rs. 339 crore during 2001-02, which is the best since inception. It achieved rated capacities in all production areas and a record turn over of Rs. 4077 crore during the year. It has also shown best sales turn over of Rs. 298 crore in the first month of the current financial year.

The Plant has taken a number of steps to further improve its working and profitability. The steps are : increasing the production level, introducing cost reduction measures, better marketing strategy to increase net sales realization, concentrating on sale of value added products, reduction of capital related charges and diversification of product mix.
