MANEKA GANDHI GETS RARE INTERNATIONAL HONOUR
The Minister of State
for Statistics and Programme Implementation, Smt. Maneka Gandhi
has been invited to participate in the conference on Peace in
Peacetime, International Conference on Peace and Development.
This is a rare honour given only to Nobel laureates and distinguished
personalities who have played leading roles in bringing peace
and social equity in the world.
Some
other participants of this conference include Nobel Peace prize
winners Oscar Arias, who is also former President of Costa Rica,
Regoberta Menchu and Betty Williams and Secretary General of Earth
Summit Maurice Strong.
To
be held
from
12 to 14 August 2002, in San Juan
capital
city of Puerto
Rico, this conference is being organised
by
Senate of Puetro Rico and Arias Foundation. In the conference
the focus will be on Balance
in Prosperity, Equality and Human Dignity and War in Peace Time-the
Innocent Victims.
