KIDNEY PATIENTS TO GET CONCESSIONS IN RAIL FARES
From today onwards,
kidney patients, when traveling alone or with an escort, for dialysis
and kidney treatment operation to recognized hospitals, will get
75 per cent concession in First, AC 3-Tier, AC Chair Car, Sleeper
and Second Class and 50 per cent in AC First and AC 2-Tier Sleeper.
The same concession
will be admissible for return journey as well after dialysis and
kidney transplant operation. One escort with every patient will
also be eligible for same element of concession.
This follows
announcement by the Railway Minister Shri Nitish Kumar in his
Railway Budget 2003-2004 speech on February 26, 2003 in the Lok
Sabha.
