Rs. 83,000 CRORE BUDGET COLLECTION TARGET ACHIEVED

The Conference of Chief Commissioners and Commissioners of Income-Tax Delhi Region was held here today. Shri P.L. Singh, Chairman, Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) expressed satisfaction over achieving the Budget collection target of Rs. 83,000 crore during the financial year 2002-03. While addressing the Conference, Shri B. Swarup, Member, CBDT informed about Tax Information Network (TIN) and its effective implementation for better tax administration.

Amongst other issues the Conference deliberated upon increasing the income tax revenue by better management of Budget and arrears demand collection. Need for effective computerised system was urged for the speedy processing of returns, issue of refunds and allotment of PAN and PAN cards to provide hassle-free service to the tax-payers.
