IMPROVING SERVICE CONDITIONS OF
LOCO PILOTS
The Railways
have standardized good features in the loco pilots cabs and started
implementing them to ensure safe and fatigue-free driving of trains.
Besides, recommendations
of the Khanna Committee, in respect of running rooms where loco
pilots (drivers) take rest, have been accepted and Zonal Railways
advised to implement them. The Railway Ministry has also set up
a committee to recommend further improvements in the running rooms.
In addition,
action has been taken to improve the visibility of signals in
both semaphore signalling territory and colour light signalling
tracks to improve reliability and visibility of signals.
These steps are
intended to improve safe rail services to the Nation.
