BIRD GROUP OF COMPANIES SHOW GROWTH
The
Bird Group of Companies under the Ministry of Steel have registered
a sales turnover of Rs. 30.94 crore during the first quarter of
this fiscal against Rs. 16.17 crore during the corresponding period
last year with an increase of about 90 per cent. During the period
the group achieved a gross margin of Rs. 13.03 crore against Rs.
1.90 crore during the same period last year. The net loss of the
group during this period has been reduced to 3.06 crore.
The outstanding
performance of Orissa Mining Development Corporation (OMDC) has
mainly contributed to the improved performance of the group. The
company during the first quarter achieved a sales turnover of
Rs. 25.28 crore and a net profit of Rs. 10.06 crore. The company
sustained a net loss of Rs. 17 lakh during the corresponding period
last year.
The other companies
of the group are Bisra Stone Lime Co. Ltd. (BSLC), Karanpura Development
Com. Ltd. (KDCL), Scott and Saxby Ltd. (SSL), Eastern Investments
Ltd. (EIL), Burrakur Coal Co. Ltd. (Burrakur) and Borrea Coal
Co. Ltd.
