PASSENGER AMENITIES AT DELHI RAILWAY
STATIONS

The
proposals for development of passenger amenities at Delhi Main
Station (Old Delhi), New Delhi Station and Hazrat Nizamuddin Station
are in various stages of implementation.
Pre-paid taxi and
auto-rickshaw services at these stations are run by Delhi Traffic
Police. Pre-paid scheme for auto-rickshaw is available at all
these stations. However, as a result of a court case in Delhi
High Court between Taxi Operator Association and Delhi Traffic
Police, taxi operators stopped coming to pre-paid booth at these
railway stations. However, ‘rent-a-car’ system is functional at
Ajmeri Gate side of New Delhi Station.
This information
was given by the Minister of State for Railways Shri Basanagouda
R. Patil in a written reply to a question from Shri Anantha Nayak
in the Lok Sabha today.
