VRS IN RAILWAYS

Details of the Voluntary
Retirement Scheme (VRS) for loco pilots (drivers) and gangmen
have not so far been finalized.
The Organized Federations
on the Railways have been consulted.
The Federations have
broadly favoured and agreed with the scheme.
The scheme is likely
to be implemented shortly.
As the scheme is
voluntary in nature, it is not possible to quantify the numbers.
This information
was given by the Minister of State for Railways Shri Basanagouda
R. Patil in a written reply to a question from Smt. Renuka Chowdhury
and four other Members in the Lok Sabha today.
