CATERING ON RAILWAYS BY IRCTC
Indian Railways
Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), a public sector undertaking
of the Ministry of Railways, now fully functional with effect
from August 2001, is providing catering and vending services through
reputed caterers rendering satisfactory services on Indian Railways.
All the departmental
catering units on the Railways are being handed over to IRCTC
with the staff and other things.
IRCTC has received
about 55 complaints regarding services being managed by it. Out
of these, action has been taken to terminate two contracts. Fines
have been imposed on four contractors and warnings given to many
others. Besides, 30 cases were under investigation.
Zonal and Divisional
railway level senior officials also carry out inspections to ensure
quality of catering services.
