PROJECTS OF GAUGE CONVERSION IN TAMIL NADU

As on April 1, 1992,
a total of 2907 km. Of Meter Gauge track was existing in the State
of Tamil Nadu, out of which gauge conversion of 995 km has been
completed till March 31, 2003. Work is in various stages of progress
on 1280 km length. The total budget outlay during 2003-2004 for
all the gauge conversion projects in the State of Tamil Nadu is
Rs. 92.89 crore.
No time frame has
been fixed for completion of these projects. The ongoing projects
would get completed in the coming years as per the availability
of resources.
This information
was given by the Minister of State for Railways Shri Bandaru Dattatraya
in a written reply to a question from Shri CGO S. Ramaswamy in
the Rajya Sabha today.
