ONLINE RAILWAY ENQUIRIES
The Railways have commissioned
successfully online facility of providing reservation enquiries
through Internet on its website: www.indianrail.gov.in
.
Enquiries relating
to Passenger Numerical Record (PNR) status, which gives the current
status of waitlisted ticket, availability of seats or berths between
stations, fare and timetable can now be made through this site.
Meanwhile, the work
of providing train reservation on Internet, commissioned on Independence
Day 2002, is now available in 35 cities.
The reservation can
be had on website : www.IRCTC.com.
Under the system,
the ticket so reserved, is sent by courier to the buyer and delivered
at his or her doorstep against cash payment.
The website for reservation
is maintained and operated by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism
Corporation (IRCTC), a public sector undertaking of the Ministry
of Railways.
