FRESH INITIATIVE BY CBSE FOR EXAMINATION REFORM


The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken some major steps towards examination reform. These include publication of sample question papers, introduction of multiple sets of question papers, and introduction of comprehensive and continuous school based evaluation.

The CBSE has also introduced 9-point scale grading system alongwith numerical score.

Elimination of overall aggregation of marks, and giving three chances of compartment examination for Class X and XII with the facility of compartment in two subjects in Class X and one in Class XII are other initiatives taken by the CBSE. Development of designs and blue prints and use of marking schemes to familiarise the teachers and students about the nature of the question papers, has also been undertaken.

This information was given by the Union Minister of State for Human Resource Development, Dr. Vallabhbhai Kahiria in written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today.
