GOVT. TO ALLOW CONVERSION OF DDA SHOPS FROM LEASE HOLD TO FREE
HOLD

Delhi Development
Authority (DDA) and Land & Development Office (L&DO) are
allowing conversion of lease hold residential properties to free
hold on the basis of prevailing land rates which are provisional.
This is subject to furnishing of an undertaking by the applicant
to the effect that they would pay the difference in the conversion
charges, if any, based on the finally approved land rates.
The scheme for
conversion of lease hold land in respect of residential properties
in Delhi to free hold was started in the year 1992. The scheme
is modified from time to time and as per the last modification
announced on 28.6.99, conversion was allowed for a limited period
(up to 31.3.2000) at the land rates of 1987.
The Government
is also planning to allow conversion of shops allotted by the
DDA, from lease hold to free hold. The amount of conversion fee
and the date of commencement of the scheme will be finalized only
after a decision is taken in the matter.
This information
was given by the Minister of State for Urban Development and Poverty
Alleviation, Shri Pon. Radhakrishnan in his written reply to the
questions of Shri R.K. Anand, Shri Santosh Bagrodia and Raju Parmar
in Rajya Sabha today.
