TRIAL RUN OF FASTEST TRAIN
The Ministry of Railways
is examining trial run of the fastest train at 150 kilometre per
hour speed buoyed by the successful run of such a speedy train
by the Konkan Railway in December 2002.
The details of such
fastest trains will be worked out after a final decision in this
regard is taken.
The locomotive used
in the trial run of such a train by the Konkan Railway was imported
from M/s General Motors Corporation of the USA. Diesel locos of
similar capabilities (4000 Horse Power) are currently under manufacture
in Diesel Locomotive Works (DLW), Varanasi.
