MODERNIZATION OF NEW DELHI, DELHI AND HAZRAT NIZAMUDDIN STATIONS
The Railways have
taken up modernization of passenger amenities works at New Delhi,
Delhi Main and Hazrat Nizamuddin Railway Stations at a cost of
Rs. 24.85 crores during the current financial year 2003-2004.
The passenger amenities
works, taken up at a cost of Rs. 17.6 crores at new Delhi station
include, station building on second entry side, full cover shed
on all the platforms, provision of umbrella shed in circulating
area, separate Passenger Reservation System (PRS) building on
Ajmeri Gate side, shifting of inward parcel office to Ajmeri Gate
side and provision of recycling unit for waste water.
The works at Delhi
Main Station, taken up at a cost of Rs. 5.76 crores, include station
building on second entry side, food plaza by Indian Railway Catering
and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), for which space has been allotted,
upgradation of station building and circulation area, development
of green patch and relocation of coolie (porter) shelter at third
entry side.
The works at Hazrat
Nizamuddin Station, taken up at a cost of Rs. 2.3 crores, include
station building on second entry side, extension and interconnection
of foot over bridges to second entry, provision of new island
platform in between platform No. 5 and parcel office, food plaza
by IRCTC, upgradation of station building and circulating area
for fist entry, provision of car parking and taxi stand on second
entry in Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) land, modification
of second entry and improvement of passenger amenities at station,
provision of barrier free amenities for disabled passengers and
train indicator board on platforms.
