COMPLIMENTARY RAIL PASSES FOR VARIOUS CATEGORIES OF PEOPLE
The Ministry of Railways
has issued 46,078 complimentary passes to various categories of
people as on date.
Of the total recipients
of complimentary passes, 25,698 are Freedom Fighters drawing their
pension from the Central Government, followed by 586 Arjun Awardees,
Olympic Medalists, Asian and Commonwealth Gold Medalists and Dronacharya
Awardees, 711 winners of Chakra Series Gallantary Awards (Defence),
1085 winners of President’s Police Medal for Gallantry and Police
Medal for Gallantry (Police), three non-official Members of Railway
Hindi Salahakar Samiti and 20 former Ministers of Railways, Ministers
of State for Railways and Deputy Ministers for Railways.
Besides, 17,078 licensed
porters (coolies) have received cheque passes (Duty Passes).
In addition, 897
individuals and organizations engaged in social, cultural, educational,
sports and welfare activities under the discretionary powers of
Minister of Railways, Minister of State for Railways and Railway
Board have also got complimentary passes as per guidelines evolved
by the Ministry of Railways.
