SETTING UP OF RAILWAY TERMINALS BY PRIVATE ENTREPRENEURS
The Railways have
started encouraging private entrepreneurs to set up terminals
and warehousing facilities.
In this connection,
a pilot project is underway since February, 2002 with Central
Warehousing Corporation (CWC) at Whitefield, Bangalore. In this
regard, a step further has been taken to have a Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU) with CWC for the development of warehousing
complexes at different railhead terminals.
Such warehousing
complexes and terminals are based on leasing terms and revenue
sharing between the railways and the CWC and others.
