REBATE POLICY FOR KHADI PRODUCTS ANNOUNCED
The Government has
announced the rebate policy for Khadi and Khadi related items
for the year 2003-2004. The normal rebate w.e.f. 5th
May 2003 will be available throughout the year @ 10% and an additional
special rebate @ another 10% will be available for 108 days. The
rebate shall be allowed only on the sales centers run by the Khadi
and Village Industries Commission, the Khadi and Village Industries
Boards and also at the sales centres run by the registered institutions
who are engaged in the production of Khadi and Polyvastra. The
trading institutions which are engaged only in marketing of Khadi
will be given the rebate only after they have been subjected to
an audit.
Rebate on Khadi
is being given for the last many years so as to make the price
of Khadi competitive with other textiles. Normal rebate all over
the year and an additional special rebate for 108 days is given
the customers and the rebate is passed on to the institutions
from funds available through budgetary resources. The timely announcement
of rebate helps the institutions to work out an action plan with
regard to their production and sales.
