CULTURE MINISTER'S MEET TO DISCUSS MAINTENANCE OF SHRINES & PILGRIMAGE
SITES
The Centre has convened
meeting of culture Ministers of States and Union Territories here
tomorrow to discuss desirability of a legislation for the maintenance
and visitor management at shrines and places of pilgrimage. The
one day meet also review various cultural and heritage projects
of national importance. Matters of Archaeological Survey of India
requiring the attention and cooperation of the State Governments,
improvement of local museums, Buddhist Institutions, Pension to
artists will also be taken up during the meeting.
Initiatives to
preserve cultural heritage of Himalayas, State’s contributions
to Zonal Cultural Centres and construction of multi purpose cultural
complexes and role of States in National Mission for Manuscripts
are other important items on the agenda of the meeting.
