ALLOCATION OF FOODGRAINS TO RAJASTHAN

Ministry of Rural Development has released 10.11 lakh MTs foodgrains (wheat) to the drought affected state of Rajasthan under the special component of the Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana (SGRY) during 2003-04.

The above allocation of additional foodgrains have been made to meet the requirement of the State for the period of three months i.e. May-July, 2003.

Special Component of SGRY is demand driven and allocated to the States on the basis of requirement to deal with the calamities such as drought, earthquake, cyclone, flood etc. Under the Special Component only foodgrains are provided free of cost to the States to take up employment-oriented works. Cash Component for the Scheme is provided by the State Governments either from the State Sector Scheme or Centrally Sponsored Scheme.
