GSI INTERVENTION LOCATES ADDITIONAL
RESERVES
Geological Survey
of India (GSI), a public sector undertaking of the Mines Ministry
inspected the Jalikatti limestone mine of M/s Ratna Minerals in
Bagalkot district of Karnataka during February 2003 in connection
with the examination of mining scheme. The party was advised to
reduce the bench height from 7 meter to 3 meters and recalculate
the reserves using present pit depth. On recalculation the reserves
increased from 14,07,922 tonnes to 17,31,961 tonnes. The additional
reserve of 324041 tonnes have been established which is worth
of Rs. 3.24 crore.
M/s Rassi Cement
Ltd in Nalgonda district of Andhra Pradesh was advised to establish
an environmental monitoring cell for conducting periodical monitoring
of environmental parameters, while approving the mining plan.
During the inspection of Lakshmipuram and Vishnupuram limestone
mine it was observed that the party has established the environmental
cell and periodical monitoring is also being carried out for environmental
parameters.
