FREIGHT OPERATIONS INFORMATION SYSTEM ON RAILWAYS

Indian Railways have taken up use of the Freight Operations Information System (FOIS) at 604 locations in phase II of the Terminal Management System, which has been planned for completion in the current fiscal. So far, the Terminal Management System under FOIS has been deployed at 48 locations of the Southern and South Central Railways.

In the phase I of FOIS, the Rake Management System has been deployed in 250 locations.

Introduction of FOIS has been helpful in the efficient management of rakes and terminals for better wagon turnaround.
