MODEL RAILWAY STATIONS
Indian Railways have
selected 301 stations as ‘Model Stations’ to provide upgraded
passenger amenities.
The thrust area is
to provide such amenities as may have direct interface with the
traveling public.
The Model Stations
will have improvement in waiting rooms, booking offices, retiring
rooms, circulating areas, provision of National Train Enquiry
System (NTES), and Self-Printing Ticketing Machines (SPTMs), conversion
of stalls into modular stalls and provision of ‘Pay and Use’ toilets.
There are more than
7,000 railway stations in the country.
