EXPANSION OF RAIL LINES IN 2003-2004
Addition of 1340
kilometres of broad gauge lines has been targeted for completion
during the current financial year 2003-2004. These include new
lines, gauge conversion and doublings.
In addition,
several new lines, gauge conversion works and doubling projects
were in progress.
Indian Railways
have 63,140 route kilometres of rail network all over the country
as on April 1, 2002.
