MEDIA CENTRE - HUB OF ACTVITIES

         A Media Centre was set up in the foyer of Siri Fort Auditorium for the media critic, film journalists from all over the country and abroad. During the fifteen days festival, Media Centre catered to the various requirements of the film journalists right from supplying them with photographs and synopsis to giving facilitation in the press shows. During the period, more than 490 pressmen were given accreditation including cameramen to cover the event. Over 40 Press Conferences were arranged by the Press Conference Unit of renowned film personalities both of India and abroad.

          Multi languages Synopses were provided in to Press all over the country. Languages include Hindi, Urdu and English. Around 400 releases consisting of synopsis, special write-ups etc. were issued during this period.

        During the fortnight, 200 film shows were organised for the press delegates in which persons from PIB facilitated the Press. Media Desk, which was the main hub of the activities besides Photo Desk, replied to over 900 quarries from the Press. A number of still photos (1000) and slides of all the movies that were screened during this period were supplied to various newspapers, besides photos of various events like Press Conferences, Inaugural and Closing function etc. were widely circulated. Daily press clipping service was carried out throughout the festival.

        Another feature of the Media Centre was the setting up of Computer Desk for the first time. The total number of hits in PIB website during the film festival till date is 1,80,054. The constant updating of releases, synopsis and photos issued during the festival were done. Photo-access facilities via PIB-website provided for all media far-and-wide. The publicity material was made available in three languages - English, Hindi and Urdu - on the Internet and through e-mail. The site also contains a detailed backgrounder on the current festival and material of the IFFI-98 and IFFI-99.

         Help of the Communication Ministry was sought to set-up Internet and E-mail, Fax, ISD, STD and postal facilities were also made available.
