Following a terrible automobile accident that leaves her physically unhurt but emotionally devastated, 26-year old Simon Prevost proceeds to re-examine her life.  She quits her job, cancels a planned trip to Italy, and asks her best friend, Philippe, to be the father of her child.

Philippe agrees – on condition that the child be conceived in the desert.  Simone and Philippe depart for the great salt desert outside Salt Lake City…

Denis Villeneuve made a name as one of the five film directors involved in the collective feature, Cosmos (1996), for which he directed the segment titled Le Technetium.  He has won awards for his contribution to the TV series Course Europe Asie (1990), his first short film REW FFWD (1992) and several music videos directed between 1993 and 1995.  August 32nd on Earth is his first feature film.
