On Wednesdays, Pierre Brochant and his friends have a dinner for what they call ‘wackys’ (idiots).  The one who brings along the most outstanding wacky is declared the winner.
One evening, Brochant is overjoyed.  He’s found a world class wacky! Francois Pignot, an accountant at the Ministry of Finance, who greatly enjoys making match stick models.  But what he doesn’t know is that Pignot is jinxed!  Bound to bring catastrophe in his wake...

Francis Veber, born ’37, began by writing for the stage then moved on to the screen.  He scripted Yves Robert’s Le Grand Blond avec une Chhaussure Noire which won the Silver Bear at Berlin and went on to make his first feature Le Jouet in 1976.  His three subsequent films, each featuring the demon duo of Gerard Depardieu and Pierre Richard were major box office hits.  In 1986, Francis Veber left for Hollywood where he worked for Disney and Universal. But the extraordinary success in Paris of his 1993 play Le Diner de cons, brought about a return to the theatre.
