With a taste for black humor and visual puns, unpredictable twists and turns and handmade special effects, Shinobu Yaguchi is described as the ‘enfant terrible’ of Japanese cinema.  Born 1967, he is a graphic design major who soon launched into filmmaking.  His 8mm Ame Onna (Rain Woman) won the Grand Prize at the ’90 PFF Contest.  The film followed two carefree girls in his eclectic and spontaneous style.  His next, Down the Drain, another upbeat comedy was about a girl too, an absent-minded one.
