Birth of a Butterfly

This is a three-part film made up of The Birth, The Path and The Butterfly. These three religious and spiritual episodes seem to imply that man matures under God and eventually will start walking towards a new world. In each of the three stories, the protagonist tries to break away from existing ideas into a new way of thinking.

Butterflies appear in all the stories, suggesting that they have a mystical existence.

Mojtaba Raie, a graduate in film direction from the College of Cinema and Theatre of the Arts University in Iran, directed his debut feature, Man and Arms, in 1988. Since then he has directed several films, notable among which are Summer of ’79 (1990), Safe Zone (1993) and the internationally awarded Ghazal (1995).
