A tragic love story between East and West. Inspired by hand-tinted pictures taken by Japanese photographers. In 1895, photographer and explorer Felice Beato returns to Japan to look for his former wife O-Kiku whom he had abandoned some year earlier. He writes to his brother, Antonio, about the events on his trip, talking about his nostalgia for the old Japan which is changing rapidly, about his inability to understand the world without looking through the viewfinder of a camera and, more importantly, about his yearning for his long-lost love, O-Kiku. Felices journey takes him via Nagasaki, Moji, Onomichi, Mount Fuji and Yokohama to Tokyo, all places he once lived in or visited with O-Kiku. When he finally finds O-Kiku in Tokyo, a quiet understanding between them ends their story and gives him a new perspective on life.
