Synopsis  (Animated Musical)

Mulan

Purportedly based on a Chinese legend, Mulan tells a powerful story that exists in some form in many cultures. Just as the marauding huns led by the ruthless Shan-Yu are invading the country and pushing over the Great Wall, young Mulan is being prepared for presentation to a matchmaker who will determine her matrimonial fate. The young lady, however is disinclined to be a student of wifely traditions. She muses (in song) on how she would like to be recognised for what she is really is. It’s more to her liking to replace her aging father as an enlister in the Imperial Army… a move which wakes the protective instincts of the family ghosts…

Disney’s led later to a job as an effects animator on Tron. Among the highlights of Tony Bancroft’s nine-year association with Disney are of the animation of Pumba, the pungent wart hog star of The Lion King and other Disney favourites as lago the parrot (Alladin) and an uptight clock named Cogsworth in Beauty and the Beast.

Tony with his twin brother, Tomi were among the first group of animators to work at the new Disney-MGM Studios in Florida.
